Gov Kefas mourns General Butu, condoles with family.

Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has described as shockingly painful the demise of Brigadier General A W Butu. He said the death was coming at a time the state and entire nation needed the wisdom and leadership of the late Butu.

Governor Kefas recalls that Butu was a gallant military officer whose life served as an inspiration to many young people who joined the military and other endeavors in life. His courage, penchant for details and focused dedication was not lost on anyone who came in contact with him. His commanding height and pleasant personality had such a magnetic pull on people, Dr Kefas said.

Dr. Kefas further eulogized General Butu in the field of military scholarship and a deep understanding of environmental issues. Late Butu’s expertise, Dr Kefas stressed, was well sought out around the country by state governments and the rest of the world on a consultancy basis.

Dr Kefas noted that General Butu, despite his accomplishments, lived an exemplary life and was modest throughout his earthly existence. He said the nation and indeed the world have lost an intellectual, a forthright personality, and an icon for the planet conservation causes.

Meanwhile, Governor Kefas has condoled with the immediate families of General Butu, the Tiv community of Takum, and the state in general. He said the late academic was a living library and an encyclopedia of military science that was a homemade gift to the rest of the world.

General Butu, born in 1965, was an accomplished Nigerian Army officer who retired from the force but has continued to serve the military as a respected lecturer at the university. He is the author of several books ranging from administration to environmental impact assessment matters. He was a well-sought-after resource person who also extended his leadership skills to community services.

Governor Kefas prayed for the repose of his soul while wishing his family, well-wishers, and the state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
