FREE EDUCATION: DR. AUGUSTINA GOES HARD TO REACH AREA OF DAMPAR IN IBI LGA.

Hon. Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, embarked on a visit to Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Dampar in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State as part of her ongoing efforts to engage with schools and their communities throughout the state.

Upon her arrival, the diligent commissioner, representing His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, paid respects to the chief of Dampar, Alh. Hashimu Hamma Adinga. She was warmly welcomed by the monarch, his council, and the staff of GDSS Dampar at the royal palace.

The chief of Dampar expressed his gratitude to Governor Kefas for appointing capable individuals like Dr. Augustina to assist in the governance of the state. He commended the honorable commissioner of education for her dedicated efforts in visiting their community and schools.

He emphasized that this was the first instance of a commissioner of education personally coming to Dampar to gather firsthand information about the schools in the area. The royal father conveyed his blessings and thanks to the governor for his positive intentions towards their community, as well as for permitting the commissioner to visit and engage with them.

After a private meeting with the chief, Dr. Augustina proceeded to the school grounds to engage with the staff and discuss the current situation and urgent needs of the school.

During the productive discussions, teachers and the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) chairman expressed their gratitude for the commissioner’s visit, stating that no previous commissioner had ever taken the time to visit and understand their challenges due to the remote location and poor road conditions.

They commended Dr. Augustina for her humility and empathy and offered prayers for her continued success and protection throughout her tenure. They highlighted key areas of need such as access to clean drinking water, school fencing, laboratory equipment, additional teachers, and a library facility.

In response, the commissioner thanked them for their hospitality and assured them of the governor’s commitment to improving the education sector. She mentioned that solutions to some of the issues raised were already being addressed and urged the community to support and pray for the governor’s success in fulfilling his promises.
