“Grant Boosts Infant Mortality Fight: Health Emergency Initiative Receives Vital Support from TotalEnergies”

In a significant step to combat infant mortality and enhance the well-being of vulnerable children, the Health Emergency Initiative (HEI) has secured a generous grant for its critical project. TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Limited (TotalEnergies Cooperative) recently presented a grant of N5,000,000 to HEI during a delegation visit in Lagos.

The primary goal of this funding is to address infant mortality, particularly focusing on children aged zero to five, especially those with non-chronic diseases. The initiative covers over eight public health facilities, offering a maximum benefit of N30,000. Additionally, it includes the donation of essential medical equipment to the Massey Street Children’s Hospital in Lagos.

HEI’s Executive Director, Paschal Achunine, expressed gratitude to the cooperative for their support and empathy for underserved communities and vulnerable Nigerians. He anticipates that this partnership will provide support to more beneficiaries in 2023. HEI, a respected NGO, has already assisted over 5,800 indigent and vulnerable patients and accident victims in Lagos state and across six other states in Nigeria. The organization has received recognition for its outstanding contributions, including the Best Supporting NGO Award from the Lagos State Health Service Commission and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Mrs. Juliet Okene, President of TotalEnergies Cooperative, emphasized the urgency of addressing the alarming statistic that over 15% of children born in Nigeria do not reach their 5th birthday. She called for broad-based actions and encouraged other corporate organizations and public-spirited Nigerians to partner with HEI due to its impeccable track record over the last 7 years.

TotalEnergies Cooperative’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is demonstrated through its annual allocation of funds to support various non-governmental organizations working towards community welfare and health improvement.

Recognized as one of the most profitable and well-managed cooperative societies in Nigeria, TotalEnergies Cooperative is dedicated to upholding ethics, professionalism, integrity, innovation, and internationally accepted corporate governance standards. The cooperative recently received the “Most Outstanding Cooperative Society (Industrial-Based)” award in Lagos State during the 2023 International Cooperative Day.

In summary, the grant provided by TotalEnergies Cooperative marks a significant milestone in HEI’s mission to combat infant mortality and improve the well-being of vulnerable children in Nigeria, setting a positive example for corporate social responsibility.
