“Senator Samuel Anyanwu Remains PDP National Secretary and Imo Gubernatorial Candidate: NWC Clarifies”

In a significant clarification amidst the approaching November 11, 2023 governorship election in Imo State, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unequivocally stated that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP candidate in the election, will continue to serve as the party’s National Secretary.

This vital clarification comes in response to a statement that surfaced, allegedly released by a “mischievous” group within the party, asserting that Senator Anyanwu had been removed from the position of PDP National Secretary.

The official statement, originating from the PDP’s office in Abuja and conveyed by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, reads as follows: “The attention of the NWC of PDP had been drawn to a statement by a group mischievously purporting that the NWC had relieved Anyanwu of his elected position as national secretary.”

The NWC categorically refutes this claim, emphasizing that, at no point in time, did the NWC consider or implement the removal of Senator Anyanwu from his position as National Secretary.

The PDP NWC sternly condemns the actions of the group responsible for disseminating this false information. This incident is perceived as an attempt to sow discord and division within the PDP ranks, potentially disrupting the party’s efforts, Senator Anyanwu’s candidature, and the people of Imo State who seek to liberate the state from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ologunagba, on behalf of the PDP NWC, emphasizes that, regardless of any personal or group grievances, resorting to fabrications, falsehoods, and claiming non-existent decisions by the NWC is utterly unacceptable.

The statement underscores the commitment of the PDP to Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s leadership as the National Secretary of the party and his role as the candidate in the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election in Imo State.

The PDP NWC implores Nigerians, especially the PDP’s numerous members and supporters in Imo State, to dismiss these erroneous assertions. Senator Anyanwu is unequivocally confirmed as the PDP National Secretary and the party’s designated contender in the impending Governorship election on November 11.

In conclusion, Ologunagba calls upon the PDP in Imo State to remain united, steadfast, vigilant, and resilient against any forces that attempt to obstruct the party’s journey towards victory on November 11. This united front is vital as they endeavor to rescue Imo State from the grip of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and champion the state’s progress and development.
