Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has inaugurated a committee to advise the government on the full implementation of local government autonomy in the state, following the recent Supreme Court judgment. The committee, constituted on July 13, 2024, comprises:

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Jalingo, on Monday, July 15, 2024. Governor Agbu Kefas reiterated his administration’s commitment to setting a clear path for local government administration, conducting local government elections, and ensuring that local government chairmen manage joint accounts and administrative affairs.
The Governor stressed that the committee’s terms of reference include implementing oversight functions, capacity building, financial autonomy, administrative reforms, security coordination, community engagements, evaluation, and feedback. He reaffirmed his commitment to selfless service, accountability, and transparency in governance.
Chairman of the advisory committee, Abel Peter Diah, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his swift response to implementing local government autonomy, describing the Supreme Court judgment as a victory for democracy.
